Gosforth Parish Church
St Mary's, situated opposite Gosforth C of E Primary School, is the Parish Church of Gosforth and part of the United Benefice of Gosforth, Nether Wasdale and Wasdale Head. There has been a church on the current site of St Mary's since at least 900 AD, although the building is largely a Victorian rebuild. The building is listed and contains much of historical interest especially the Viking relics. This area is famous for the Viking cross in St Mary's churchyard which is of international interest and visited by people from all over the world.
