PARKING ON YELLOW LINES

Several residents have highlighted the ongoing issues with vehicles parking on yellow lines in the village. Pedestrians are particularly concerned for safety reasons. Gosforth Parish Council requested a visit from the road highways who have repeated that enforcement is a traffic issue and they have not been able to offer us any positive action.  We are aware that traffic enforcement is under pressure centrally and whilst we will request for enforcement visits, it may be some time before we get this support. We have previously investigated the possibility of other options to support pedestrian safety, however, in the near term, the parish council does not have any specific projects ongoing. The police are able to take action if the parked vehicle is an causing an obstruction. We encourage you to contact our  Community Police Support Officer who is PCSO 5305 Muhammad Aziz Ali. He can be contacted via email on Aziz.Ali@cumbria.police.uk or via the non-emergency police telephone 101 to report incidents which meet this criteria. If you can give him specifc details of time and location, he will be able to aim to support a visit to the village to observe parking issues and respond appropriately.

Blengdale Closure - The far end of the bottom footpath will be closed for a couple of months for tree felling. Also the car parking area at the entrance to the forest is closed as it is full of felled trees.
